MY TRAVEL WARDROBE ESSENTIALS AS A BREASTFEEDING MOM: STAY COMFY AND STYLISH ON THE GO!

by S. Gong

Traveling with your little one is a joyous adventure filled with new sights, sounds, and unforgettable moments. As a breastfeeding mom, we deserve to feel comfortable, confident, and stylish while on the go. With a little planning, you can pack the perfect travel wardrobe that meets all your nursing needs and keeps you looking fabulous and comfortable at the same time.  Here’s your guide to traveling happily and comfortably while breastfeeding your baby.

1. Nursing Tops: Easy Access and Effortless Style

Nursing tops are your best friend when traveling. They combine convenience with style, making breastfeeding a breeze wherever you are and no fussy or hungry babies.

  • Nursing T-shirts : Perfect for layering, these provide support and can be worn alone or under other tops.  I love how discreet this one is by Quince.  It has a double front layer nursing access.  It looks great with your post-partum body.

  • Nursing Sweatshirts: I have a few sweatshirts that I love to wear, especially at night.  This one by Quince is so soft and comfortable…I can’t wait to wear it.

2. Dresses: Flowing Comfort and Quick Access

Dresses are not only comfortable but also bring a touch of elegance to your travel outfits.

3. Layers: Cozy and Versatile

Layering is essential for staying comfortable and stylish, no matter the weather.

  • Cardigans: I love this oversized organic cotton cardigan..  It’s a perfect layering piece to wear when you don’t feel like wearing a nursing top and it’s a bit cooler out. When you need to nurse your little one, you can still have back coverage with this cardigan, while breastfeeding

  • Shawls or Nursing Covers: These provide privacy and a touch of elegance while breastfeeding in public.  I love this one by Quince.

4. Bras and Undergarments: Supportive and Convenient

The right undergarments can make a huge difference in your comfort while breastfeeding.

  • Nursing Bras: Designed for easy access and support, these bras make breastfeeding a snap.  Bravado Designs is my favorite brand and I wear them all the time.  The Bravado Designs Body Silk Seamless Nursing Bra with Sustainable Fabrics now comes in new colors:  Pearl, Cameo, and Chalk Pink

  • Nursing Pads: Essential for managing leaks, nursing pads keep you dry and comfortable throughout your travels.  I wear and wash these all the time and they keep me dry and leak free.  I even wear them at night and don’t leak.  Check the Bravado Designs Reusable Leak Resistant Nursing Pads here.

General Tips: Travel Happy and Confident

  • Prioritize Comfort: Choose soft, stretchy fabrics that feel good against your skin.
  • Ensure Easy Access: Look for clothing that allows quick and discreet nursing.
  • Layer Up: Layers provide flexibility with changing temperatures and can add extra coverage when needed.
  • Stay Practical: Think about how easily you can change or adjust your clothing while holding your baby.
